As The Vindys finished work on their new album last year, the pandemic was starting to change the world.
The impact was felt when the band's lead singer Jackie Popovec stepped into a recording studio in March 2020. She stripped off her face covering and belted out her vocals into a sanitized microphone to cut the album's final track.

The Vindys releases their sophomore album The Bugs
The Vindys is a Youngstown-based rock band that will make you dance with every next release. On July 31st the band released their sophomore album The Bugs that took 4 years to get out there. The group is already at work on its third album, with a hope to release it in the summer of 2022.
The Vindys is led by Jackie Popovec that hypnotizes with her vocals and magnetism. Her sound is reminiscent of Amy Winehouse and Adele, but she has this unique timbre that won’t let you confuse her with somebody else. For the last album, Popovec wrote most of the music and lyrics and then brought them to the band for arrangement. This time she and Deak collaborated more on the songwriting, and Bugs is an example of that common work.
The Vindys – Bugs (Review)
The discovery of a huge beehive above the bed that could at any time have fallen over one in the seam. That's what inspired the indie-rock song Bugs from The Vindys . Personally, it creeps all over me when I hear the singer sing about the wasps that were literally all over the walls. Although the experience was probably traumatic, the result was a really good song and in fact also the first single from the group's album of the same name.

Musically, Bugs is an exhibition of The Vindys’ genre-blurring approach. You’ll notice influences from soul, indie rock and electronic pop. Highlighted above is the title-track, a groovy track that typifies the band’s style.
